If you look at everything you believe right now, you're in the minority. If you analysed every detail, you will always be. No two people believe the exact same things, and that only says one thing. We are making it up, filling in the gaps as we go. It seems like common sense actually, death is a frightening thing, of-course we will try to escape it one way or another. With heaven or hell and souls. I mean what exactly is a soul? Can anyone actually describe the parameters of a soul?
In my opinion a soul is fiction, it comes from our realization that we are separate from everyone around us and that our mind and our body are not one.

And what about god?, god doesn't answer our questions at all, not anymore, all we do is create a barrier that stops us from finding out the truth, not that we ever will, but still, it stops us. For example when it comes to creationism and the discovery of evolution, lets just admit that the two seem fundamentally incompatible.

God doesn't answer our questions anyway, where did god from? The quickest way to become an atheist is to read 'bad' parts of the bible, there's slavery and child abuse, just to name a few. I don't care how many 'good' messages happen to be there too, if god was truly all loving and just, there wouldn't be slavery in his holy book. It makes sense that most Christians haven't even read those kind of things from the bible.
And then it seems acceptable to say that God sent the messages through men so there were some errors after all.

In my opinion Jesus was a pretty good role model in his actions. The new testament is much much better than the old one, but what is this about? Did God change his mind or something?  I like the idea of no revenge, of turning your head to those who do bad to you, etc. It's a nice idea but it isn't believable that the only way the almighty god could save his people is to crucify himself.

Exodus 21:20-21 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

This statement is just another example where the bible adapted to the time it was in, the bible didn't try to go against common beliefs at the time, it tried to gain more followers, and to do this it moulded itself to other peoples morals, not the other way around.
Man has written the bible?

For his first son Er, Judah got a wife whose name was Tamar.

Er's conduct was evil, and it displeased the LORD, so the LORD killed him.

Then Judah said to Er's brother Onan, "Go and sleep with your brother's widow. Fulfil your obligation to her as her husband's brother, so that your brother may have descendants."

But Onan knew that the children would not belong to him, so when he had intercourse with his brother's widow, he let the semen spill on the ground, so that there would be no children for his brother.

What he did displeased the LORD, and the LORD killed him also.*

It's almost funny..

Random Laugh

And then there is the Quran which also has its fair share of questionable quotes I'd be more concerned of right now if i am honest.

Seriously, If you believe in a god, would he say this?

I think we underestimate human nature, without religion. It might surprise some that we don't actually get our 'morals' from religion. We are born with our morals, it benefits nature, evolution. What would an ant be on its own?. It needs to work as a team just as we do, and that's why we are born with a 'conscience'. Look at how animals are, the wolf, pack animals, they clearly didn't get their drive to help each other from religion.

Of course I shouldn't bash religion to much, church was a place to think and philosophers talked there, the catholic church greatly helped science up until the day when they realized the two are quite incompatible and after all religion is a thing to turn to when someone has nothing else. And the church does good work too... I know that is true. And no one has a more comforting idea than eternal happiness in heaven to help people through the worst of suffering. I can't even imagine what some people are forced to go through.
Still what is the truth really worth to people?

'We should be respectful of peoples beliefs keeps ringing in my head', but there crosses a line there since everyone gets affected in the end, wake up,we are not in an anarchist society. You might think the government has a right to ask for tax so you give it and then one day you disagree but now you are forced. Which religion will everyone turn to in the end?? who knows, I just hope it's something more along the lines of Buddhism but that's pretty unlikely.
